The Department of Labor is moving forward in evaluating sites for its new headquarters following the General Services Administration’s issuance of an official request for proposals (RFP) to three developers.
The first phase of the RFP offers the site owners in consideration the opportunity to submit their developer, design and construction team capabilities, quality and expertise, as well as financial capabilities in order to qualify for the second phase of the RFP.
The three potential locations for the new facility are located at the intersection of North Capitol Street and New York Avenue in the Northeast quadrant of Washington, D.C.; at the intersection of M Street and South Capitol Street in the Southwest quadrant; and in Anacostia, bordered by Interstate 295, Howard Road and Suitland Parkway in the Southeast quadrant.
Site owners that qualify for the second phase will submit detailed outlines addressing the project’s specific requirements.
Upon completion of a modern, efficient headquarters, the Department of Labor’s current site will be redeveloped to reduce taxpayer costs for infrastructure upgrades and building operations.
