The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — part of the Department of Interior — is getting ready to release a solicitation for a $10 million contract to provide remote network access to enable its employees to log on and get work done no matter where they are.
The five-year blanket purchase agreement (BPA) will be awarded to a vendor who can provide secure, remote access for Interior employees to connect from “any internet enabled, Windows based computer,” according to a pre-solicitation notice.
Along with constant access to the network, the contract will also call for round-the-clock support, including access to the related infrastructure and the vendor’s tech support lines. The actual hardware to support the remote network devices will live in a FWS data center and must operate within the bounds and information security guidelines of Interior’s networks.
The initial rollout will include up to 10,000 FWS users, though a future phase could include other Interior components.
Contracting officers expect to release the request for proposals — including a detailed statement of work — on or around June 17.
Responses to the RFP will be due by 1 p.m. on July 20.
